Hosting or Managing a Table

Own your space. Manage your attendees. Lead great conversations.

1. Hosting a Table

Hosting a table means creating your own conversation space on Tables.im — a topic-based session where people gather to share ideas, learn, and collaborate.

To create your first table, refer to the How to Create a Table guide.

Once your table is created, you'll see a success message with a direct link to your table page. You can also access all your hosted tables anytime from your Dashboard → My Tables.

2. Managing Your Table

After creating your table, you become its host — the person responsible for managing who joins, approving participants, and keeping the conversation high-quality.

From the table's detail page, you can:

  • See the list of attendees who have requested to join
  • Review their profile, bio, and LinkedIn before making a decision
  • Approve or Decline each request
Tip: You'll receive an email every time someone applies to join your table.

When you approve a participant:

  • They receive an email confirmation of approval.
  • Their name appears under the Attendees section in your dashboard.

When you decline a participant:

  • You can include a short note explaining the reason.
  • We'll send them an email with your note attached for transparency.

3. Ownership and Responsibility

As the host, you are the owner of the table. This means you're in charge of approvals, managing time, and keeping the session organized.

But sometimes, situations change — maybe you can't host the table at the scheduled time. In that case, you can transfer ownership to another participant.

4. Transferring Table Ownership

If you're unable to host your table, you can assign ownership to one of your approved attendees. Here's how it works:

  1. Go to your table detail page.
  2. Click the Transfer Ownership button.
  3. This sends an email notification to all approved attendees.

Those attendees will receive a Claim Ownership request. The first person to claim it becomes the new host and gains full management access.

Note: Ownership transfers are done on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once a participant accepts the claim, you'll be automatically relieved from your hosting duties and notified by email.

5. Before You Step Away

Until ownership is transferred, please remain active as the host. Keep approving participants so the table fills up and conversations can start smoothly.

If no one claims ownership before the table starts, the system automatically opens seats to all pending participants until the maximum capacity is reached.

Hosting with Confidence

Hosting a table isn't just about scheduling — it's about creating meaningful connections. Every host helps the community grow by starting valuable discussions, sharing expertise, and enabling new voices to be heard.

Whether you're leading a brainstorming session, mentoring others, or building a network, your table could be the start of something impactful.

Be a host. Lead the conversation. Empower others.
